Insider Trading and Investor Sentiment Signaling U.S. Stock Market Top

Insider Selling in August Soars to 30.6 Times Insider Buying, Highest Level Since TrimTabs Began Tracking in 2004. NYSE Short Interest Plunges 10.3%, While Margin Debt Spikes 5.9%

SAUSALITO, Calif., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- TrimTabs Investment Research reported that selling by corporate insiders in August has surged to $6.1 billion, the highest amount since May 2008. The ratio of insider selling to insider buying hit 30.6, the highest level since TrimTabs began tracking the data in 2004.

"The best-informed market participants are sending a clear signal that the party on Wall Street is going to end soon," said Charles Biderman, CEO of TrimTabs.

TrimTabs' data on insider transactions is based on daily filings of Form 4, which corporate officers, directors, and major holders are required to file with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In a research note, TrimTabs explained that insider activity is not the only sign the rally is about to end. The TrimTabs Demand Index, which tracks 18 fund flow and sentiment indicators, has turned very bearish for the first time since March.

For example, short interest on NYSE stocks plummeted by 10.3% in the second half of July and margin debt on all US listed stocks spiked 5.9% in July, while 51.6% of advisors surveyed by Investors Intelligence are bullish, the highest level since December 2007.

"When corporate insiders are bailing, the shorts are covering and investors are borrowing to buy, it generally pays to be a seller rather than a buyer of stock," said Biderman.

TrimTabs also reports that the actions of U.S. public companies have been bearish. In the past four months, companies have been net sellers of a record $105.2 billion in shares.

"Investors who think the U.S. economy is recovering are going to get a big shock this fall," said Biderman. "Companies and corporate insiders are signaling that the economy is in much worse shape than conventional wisdom believes."

Mexican Astrologer Predicts Market Crash for Sep/Oct 2009

Just arrived in my in box (12:06pm SA time on 27th August 2009) an analysis of the current state of the markets and a prediction for September/October2009 by Mexican astrologer Dr Gonzo Pena - who has two PhD's (mathematics & microbiology). His predictions rhyme perfectly with my forecast dated July 19 2009 which you can read here.

The CNN article I am forwarding below only comes to confirm what we have known all along: that the stock markets have decoupled from the real economy. This explains why even though the economy is in such bad shape, with unemployment and production falling every day more and more, the stock markets continue to rally. The Fed lends enormous amounts of money to its cronies, without interest, provided they use the money to purchase precisely the stocks they (the Fed) ask them to. That's another way how they are artificially driving the current rally.

It's interesting that in the Money-CNN page from where I took this article below, they have a voting poll where any one may vote on two questions"should Bernanke be elected for another term, yes or no?. By voting you may check out the results of the poll: I just found out that "Yes"is up with 69 per cent of the votes!. This tells you immediately how very deluded the readers of this CNN article really are.

Later on today, transiting Saturn will partile orb of conjunction to the US radix Neptune at 22Virgo25, an aspect that can always be trusted to bring down very heavy the stock markets. Except that the stock markets have not been falling thus far. The Moon is still early in Sagittarius, from where it will "T"square the transiting Saturn Uranus opposition, but luckily for the markets, these partiles will not happen until hours after closing bell at the NYSE therefore sparing the markets from an hecatombic fall. Transiting Mars in fall debility in Cancer is opposition transiting Pluto in Capricorn while conjoining US Venus under slow motion transiting Mercury "T"squares from the onset of Libra. These are aspects to expect not just a drop but a real crash of the stock markets as the trading week closes. However, my prediction is that the markets will suffer only a ridiculously mild drop totally out of line with what these aspects in orb would lead us to expect. Why?... Well, that's also because the decoupling is so advanced that the markets are ignoring the transits altogether. Whenever this happens, it's only a matter of time before all the accumulated unfulfilled transits suddenly force themselves in. Many are expecting a stocks crash. Some think it will come in September. Others think it will be in October. The New Moon of September 18 features the Luminaries (Sun and Moon) conjoined at 25Virgo59 separating their conjunctions from Saturn at 25Virgo07. That the orb of the Luminaries conjunction Saturn is separative and so tight, spells clearly that the hard crash is just before this September 18 New Moon. Mars in that New Moon of September 18 is at 14Cancer45 separating conjunction to the US Sun at 13Cancer19 while applying only 3 minutes orb of square to the US Saturn at 14Libra48. this Lunation Mars so tightly square US Saturn when the New Moon Luminaries so strongly emphasize transiting Saturn by conjunction, is telling us that the crash is going to be mighty indeed. We better cover our ears: the thud is going to be loud.

Market Meltdown - Phase 2 Imminent?

Disclaimer: Common sense dictates that one should never take investment advice from someone who is not wealthy. "Not wealthy" is a hat that fits me very well. So, you have been warned. Anything you read below is based on planetary configurations only and you act (or not) upon this information at your own risk.

September to November 2008 saw the markets tanking. The DJIA plummeted to a local minimum of 7,552 on November 20th 2008 after sharply coming off highs in excess of 11,500 in the preceding 12 weeks - a downturn of approximately 35%. Indeed, if one computes the extent of the loss from market highs in October 2007, the November 2008 minimum represented a dump of 47%.

Following a local maxmimum of 9,015 on January 6th 2009, DJIA slid even further downhill setting up a new local minimum of 6,594 on March 5th 2009.

It is currently (Jul 19 '09) trading in the 8,000 -9,000 window and has been since approximately the beginning of May.

The astrological circumstances that correlated to the 2008 meltdown peaked in intensity between last week October '08 and last week November '08. (Remember, there was a 2.5 - 3 month down run that culminated in the local minimum on Nov 20th '08).

These same astrological circumstances are set to recur between 1st week in September 2009 and 1st week in October 2009.

It might be concluded, therefore, that any time from now on, through to October 2009, we will see a significant sell off with the equivalent impact and order of magnitude of the turmoil seen in the last trimester of 2008.

My formal non-wealthy-man prediction is that DJIA will have sunk well below 6000 by end October 2009 at latest.

Remember, take it from whence it comes. This is astrology not finance.

Astrological Crime Prevention and Forensics

I have said it before. In an ideal world astrology would be a respected science and used across multiple disciplines.

Take crime fighting and forensics, for instance. Imagine if everyone's birth data would be logged on a central database. Imagine too if this same database also tracked locational data. For example, if someone were born in London but now lived in Singapore, these records would be entered into the database and accessible by law enforcement agencies.

With this data, it would be possible to track perpetrators and victims of violent crime before the incidents manifested in space-time. A big computer screen would identify who is at risk from whom in any given location on the planet within any given 24 hour window period. Detectives could then monitor these circumstances and prevent the crime from occurring. Victims would be spared the trauma, perps could nabbed and rehabilitated before they commited their atrocities, and lives would be saved. (Remember the movie with Tom Cruise called Minority Report?)

This is not science fiction. Let's take a practical example which is unfolding in real time at the moment. On December 26th 1996 a little girl called JonBenet Ramsey was sexually abused and murdered in the basement of her family home. At first, it was thought she had been kidnapped because a ransom note was found. Her body was later discovered in a locked room beneath the house.

Cops initially fingered the parents as the culprits. They, of course, denied everything and blamed the event on an as yet undiscovered pedophile murderer. No one could make any evidence stick and after a few years the case was closed. Nobody caught, nobody charged, it remains a mystery.

Back to the present. Since mid-March of this year (2009) through to the 3rd week in July, all over the world, there are more JonBenet Ramsey's being born. There is about a 4 minute window each day which sets up astrological configurations responsible for this little girl's traumatic death. And let it be said that it was extremely traumatic. In her final moments she was helplessly abused, tortured and garroted either by a parent, or in the proximity of her parents, who basically resembled gods in her young consciousness. This was an unimaginable betrayal.

The current crop of children with the JBR signature coming into the world in the March-July window are in danger of suffering the same or equivalent circumstances. These kids will be a bit older than JonBenet (who was 6 at the time of her death). The danger zones arrive in 2018-2020, putting them in the 9-11 age bracket.

The possibilities are numerous. Here is just one: a child born today in Cape Town between 8am and 8:04am will have the JBR signature. If this family subsequently emigrates before 2018 to New York state in USA (specifically the Binghamton, Syracuse, Ithaca, Auburn area), the JBR signature WILL activate on March 15th 2018.

Thousands and thousands of JBR carriers born at this time are at risk in hundreds of locations around the planet between 2018 and 2020. Jon Benet herself was not unique – she would have formed part of a batch of children with the signature, some of whom would have activated in 1996. Her particular case was highly publicised. A child of the same age, with the same signature, in the ghettos of Mumbai who suffered the same fate would have passed unnoticed.

The point to all this is that computer technology, astrology, and law enforcement meet in a nexus that can potentially eliminate crimes of this ilk from the planet. The global database with birth and translocation records will identify our hypothetical child born 8:02am in Cape Town this morning as high risk in New York state long before March 15th 2018 arrives. Law enforcement can then surveil the family on the 15th or advise them to take a holiday in California for a few days. Better still, the family would have been advised of the potential before emigrating and they will be living in Frankfurt.

Astrological "Eugenics"

Eugenics is a term, now in disrepute, that refers to the enhancement of Homo Sapiens through selective breeding practices. It fell out of favour largely as a result of Adolf Hitler's abuse of the concept to breed a superior race of Aryans in Europe. This involved the execution or forced sterilisation of those considered racially or genetically impure, while at the same time encouraging a veritable stud farm for blonde teutonics.

Nowadays, with the advent of genetic profiling and the decoding of the human genome, it has become easier to control for the emergence of genetic disorders. This is eugenics by any other name, although none would dare admit to it. So, while the name has changed, the techniques have been upgraded and the game is very much advancing by leaps and bounds as the 21st century unfolds.

Hitler's anthropologists and modern geneticists would scoff at the concept that the date, time and location of birth has any bearing on one's genetic profile. Yet, any astrologer would be able to tell you that certain celestial configurations are repetitively and consistently correlated with birth problems, congenital defects and genetic disorders.

Astrology is even a few steps ahead of science. Geneticists cannot tell you whether you will be a victim of homicide or terrorism at some future date. Neither can they determine that in your 20's your career will take off to such an extent you will become the richest woman in the world.

Imagine being able to plan the birth of your child a year in advance in order to achieve the best possible result, physically, physiologically, genetically, socially, and professionally. Imagine being able to "order" Oprah Winfrey levels of wealth and success for your child?

This is no longer a question of imagining. The potential for an Oprah crops up at least once a year. Women who are about 4 weeks pregnant now (June 4th 2009) are in the running to deliver a child with the Oprah wealth profile towards end of January 2010. The secret lies in the precise time and location of birth. This can be controlled via an elective caesarian and cooperative gynaecologists. (Remember, one also wants to avoid Oprah's formative years - rejected, sexually abused, teen pregnancy, etc.)

At the very minimum, astrological eugenics can vastly reduce the risk of congenital abnormalities and infant mortality.

What you need to avoid a bad result or achieve a good one are these:

1. A competent astrologer
2. A plan
3. Functional reproductive capacity
4. The will to get it right
5. Material resources - you will need to travel to the correct location for the birth and employ gynaecologists who do as they're told.

2012 Series - Part 3 - Thermonuclear War in 2012??

I have compiled a report on the possibility of a globalised conflict of apocalyptic proportions breaking out between 2009 and 2016.

Here are some of the conclusions, but you need to read the whole report in order to contextualise them. (The report also deals with the Arab-Israeli conflict.) Feedback welcome. Either post to the blog or contact me directly.

Analysis of FoW transits reveal that point 1 of Table 1 poses the greatest risk in that it most closely resembles the astrological conditions correlating to the 1st World War. If there is going to be a world war, it would likely break out in the periods stipulated, one of which is in play as this report is being written (May 2009).
Nearly all major conflicts of the last 100 years (including the two world wars) broke out under squares or oppositions to the three FoW war significators (Pluto, Uranus, Node). If a world war did break out under the current tPluto-FoW Uranus conjunction, it would be somewhat out of character in terms of the historical behaviour of the FoW chart.
Therefore, based on the historical performance of the FoW chart, the astrological evidence for a global conflict enveloping the world between 2009 and 2016 is minimal. (Not entirely absent, however.)
If humanity collectively could articulate one single fear for the future, it would relate to the potential for nuclear holocaust. This kind of mass annihilation meme has been rocketing through the ether hand-in-hand with the whole 2012 end of Mayan long count apocalyptic scenario. As mentioned in section D earlier, the FoW chart activity demonstrates unmistakable astrological similarities between both occasions in the past when radioactive fallout has killed large numbers of people. There is no astrological equivalence between these events and any configuration between 2009 and 2016.
Since a global conflict in the 21st century, on the scale (or greater) of the 1st and 2nd world wars, would necessarily involve nuclear warheads and the deaths of millions of people, the lack of astrological correlates of deaths due to fallout between 2009 and 2016 is further confirmation that such a war is unlikely in this period. Accordingly, the 2012 meme appears to be a case of mass hysteria – based on the evidence of the FoW, at any rate.
Final Conclusion. The FoW chart shows clearly defined astrological activity correlated to all the major conflicts of the last 100 years. We assume, therefore, that its messages are coherent and applicable to the current era. These messages DO NOT clearly and unmistakably indicate the onset of a globalised world war involving thermonuclear WMD in the period 2009-2016.

2012 Series - Part 2 - Uranus conjoins Jupiter on Aries point 2010

There is an atavistic fear of 2012 infusing the minds and souls of human beings.

The 2012 bandwagon has been gathering momentum since the 90s. With every new-ager, self-styled prophet, UFO buff, fundamentalist end times freak, or tin foil hat salesman that buys into the vision of the end of the world, so does the meme become more viral. And as the meme infects new hosts, it grows the collective expectation of humanity that something bad is going to happen in 2012. Which of course only makes it more likely that something bad WILL happen.

So, by way of reversing this trend, I have chosen to kick off this 2012 series of posts with some good news. My prediction is:

"In 2010/2011 there is going to be a technological or scientific breakthrough that completely transforms/revolutionises the world - socially, politically, economically. It will be something exponentially beyond the "average" type of progress and innovation we are used to. This development is not a new cell phone or revolutionary miracle medical procedure or some such mediocrity. This is something so big and so far reaching that it will shape the nature of society for the next 80 years at least."

We have become inured to scientific and technological progress. Discoveries are announced almost daily which, as recently as 10 years ago, would have been hailed as miraculous. Just to mention two that occurred last year (2008) ... the invisibility cloak produced by UCLA scientists and the discovery of 45 small exoplanets by Swiss astronomer Michael Mayor. Both these developments were in the domain of science fiction not too long ago.

The breakthrough coming in 2010 will be astonishing even by today's standards. I am not going to speculate what it could be but an equivalent level of impact would be the formal announcement by orthodox scientists and the political elite that extraterrestrial contact has been established; or there have been breakthroughs in antigravity or the harvesting of free energy. Something of this ilk. Whatever it is will be mind-blowing.

The timing of this breakthrough is difficult to pinpoint. There is inevitably a lag between the event and the announcement. If it is as big as the astrology seems to indicate, they could be prepping the spin for months before the public gets to hear about it. A further source of delay could be the filing of patents before the news enters the public domain. Click on the graphic below to expand it. The astrological correlate of this seminal event is the conjoining of Uranus and Jupiter in 0 degrees of Aries. (Purple square in the graphic.) The conjunction partiles (goes exact) in June 2010.

For the non-astrologers, the blue curve depicts the passage of Uranus through the zodiac. The red horizontal line is the Aries point. The thin grey line is the passage of Jupiter. The two connect around 8th June 2010 at 18 minutes of an arc just into the sign of Aries.

The Aries point represents the start of the tropical zodiac. It is defined by the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator - the vernal equinox around March 21st. This point is not static and retrogrades through the sidereal zodiac by a small arc each year, according to the precession.

An active Aries point in natal astrology depicts the nature of one's public impact on the world. It represents "making a splash". It is also associated with the birth of new enterprises and projects. The Sun's imprint at this point defines the start of the astrological new year. When another planet interacts with the Aries point, there is an energetic projection into reality of the said planet's intrinsic quality.

The effect of the Uranus-Jupiter conjunction is very simply described as "big innovation" or "revolutionary growth". Occurring at the Aries point, as it does in 2010, it portends some kind of astonishing event that transforms the global outlook. The technological or scientific nature of this transformation is inferred in part by the nature of Uranus (the planet with natural jurisdiction over science technology)and partly by an analysis of history. This analysis follows below.

"Coincidentally", the last time Uranus crossed the Aries point, it did so with Jupiter as a fellow traveller. The conjunction partiled in January 1928 at a longitude of 23 arc minutes into the sign of Aries. This corresponded to the peak of the frenzied race to produce technology that could transmit moving images, namely television cameras and receivers (sets).

Many have staked their claim to have invented the television. Of all these, the one who stands out as possibly the most deserving of this accolade is a Japanese man by the name of Kenjiro Takayanagi. He was the first to construct a fully electronic system of television transmission by using a cathode ray tube to display the transmitted image. A close runner up was San Franciscan Philo Farnsworth who pioneered the non-mechanical fully electronic television camera. Takayanagi demonstrated his equipment on December 25th 1927, Farnsworth on September 1st 1928. The Japanese demo was barely a month away from the partiled Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in January 1928. 1928 was also the year the first commercially available TV sets went on sale to the general public.

It is not necessary to describe the sociological impact of commercial TV broadcast on the global culture. To say that it has shaped an era is an understatement. The breakthrough coming in 2010/2011 will be just as transformational.

A few good astrologers

"You can't handle the truth!!!", explodes Jack Nicholson in the movie "A Few Good Men". This was voted as one of the top 100 movie lines of all time.

Astrologers love applying this maxim. It helps them to pussyfoot around awkward configs in a client's chart. Instead of telling it like it is, they spin the bad news into something aspirational and not quite so bad.

This is understandable. People want good news. If they are consistently getting bad news from the astrologer, they will find a new astrologer who will paint the picture in rosier terms. Whereupon the first astrologer is left without his $ consultation fee.

So, the temptation for the astrologer is always to spin the story to the client in such a way as to minimise the downside. To soften the blow, they have invented a whole new lyrical jargon. For example, quoting from Robert Hand's "Planets in Transit":

"No matter how unpleasant a Saturn transit seems at the time, it represents what you truly want in life and is helping you to get it. Oh yes? Most people are out of touch with what they truly want. Not me. If you thoroughly understand your needs and wants, you will find that Saturn simply brings about their manifestations. Prove it. The "losses" that Saturn brings are of things that you do not want or need. Crap. I loved my SLK200 which was stolen last week under a Saturn-Mercury opposition. No matter how much you think you want them, let them go, especially relationships that Saturn may end." Yes, when my husband/boyfriend/lover died under my Saturn-Sun square, it was simply Saturn helping me attain what I truly wanted in life.

This type of approach is tailored to the needs of people who are in pain and in need of a comforting message which infers meaning from their suffering. It is NOT the truth of the matter, as most of us know from bitter experience. The purple commentary is far more applicable than Hand's soft treatment of the subject.

Similarly, with natal astrology, hard aspects involving Saturn, for example, are interpreted as "opportunities to learn important lessons" or some such panacea. Alan Oken is probably the best exponent of Saturnine mystical-speak ...

"Saturn can only bring privation to those areas in one's life which are based on falsehoods and which must change. Saturn forces the individual to give up illusions and misconceptions which hold him back from the liberation and freedom which come from the depersonalization of the Self. Saturn requires the death of the personality so that the individuality (the Spirit) can emerge from the destiny of one's being."

In reality, a very simple aphorism applies ... "when shit happens, no matter how you package it, it stinks".

So, now, here is the plain and simple truth. Saturn in hard, tight aspect to a personal planet or light is disastrous. A Saturn-Venus |90| contact within a 1 degree orb in the natus means that the bearer of this config will NEVER have a successful, fulfilling relationship. A hard Saturn-Mars contact creates victims/perps of cruelty, abuse and violence. A hard Saturn-Moon aspect is found in the charts of those permanently on the 10th floor window ledge. And so on. That's it. No quarter given.

Another problem with many astrologers is they use the "you can't handle the truth" principle to mask poor quality astrology. When the astrologer sees a tight Saturn-Venus complex, for instance, he is not too sure what to say about it. In the past, he has observed people who have good relationships with this pattern. Just as he has observed the same configuration in bad relationships. He doesn't understand quite why it manifests in one case but not in the other. As a result, he is reluctant to deliver the bad news because the news might not actually be too bad at all.

The real issue is that Astrology 101 does not teach the difference between active and dormant configurations. For example, a Saturn-Venus square can be active or dormant in the natus. The active variant creates problems. The dormant pattern seldom manifests. All Saturn-Venus squares are NOT equal. The first guy will have a succession of disastrous relationships. The second guy sails through this area of life with barely a hiccup.

So what does the astrologer do when he spots a tight Saturn-Venus contact? He follows the double-speak option. Instead of laying it on the line, he dodges the issue with esoteric misdirection and subjunctives, covering all the bases ranging from total relationship failure to startling success once the native has "worked through some stuff".

It is this kind of generality and banality that gives astrology a bad name. People from the Randi foundation, et al, seize upon readings like this to get on their soap boxes about what a bunch of frauds astrologers are. And, if the truth be told, they are mostly right.

The science of astrology in practiced hands does not lie. A tight, hard, ACTIVE Saturn-Venus contact in the natal horoscope IS a formula for a life of failed or non-existent partnering.

Which is more cruel? Telling someone they will never succeed in relationships? Or giving them hope that they may succeed one day if they undertake some kind of karmic journey of self-transcendence, thereby condemning them to a lifetime of trying, failing, and misery, when they could be doing more useful things?

One understands the reluctance to create negative expectation in people lest you program them for self-fulfilling failure. But an accurate picture must be communicated to the client if the astrologer is doing his job properly. Why should clients be paying us to obfuscate the truth and package it in jargon?

This has got nothing to do with whether they can handle the truth or not. This is about growing the profession into respectability. That will come only with accurate insight and prognosis. Not bluster and generalities.

What constitutes an ACTIVE configuration? One that is personalised through interaction with angles and angular derivatives such as planet/angle midpoints. This is simple to determine but inevitably ignored. Yet, in my experience, it is the ONLY way to distinguish between chart structures that count and those that mean little. It is the only way to know whether a tight Saturn-Venus contact will haunt the native from alpha to omega, or barely cause a moment's discomfort.

A few good men were told "you can't handle the truth!". The truth that astrologers can't handle is how few astrologers can actually see the truth when looking at a chart. The rest have no choice but to take refuge in the pseudo-ethical principle that their clients can't handle the truth and must therefore accept cold reading, bluster, uncertainty and spin that covers all the bases, as the standard in astrological practice.

On 27th January 2007, I contributed some work to an astrological forum specialising in predictive astrology. In the posting, I predicted the outbreak of a global 'flu pandemic before December 2009. The 3 global flu pandemics of the 20th century occurred during periods between Jupiter sq Neptune and Jupiter cj Neptune.

Spanish flu (H1N1 virus) 1918-1919, 20-40 million dead worldwide, Jup-Nep sq to cj from Jul 7 1916- Apr 24 1920.

Asian (Chinese) flu (H2N2 virus) 1957-1958, 1 million dead worldwide, Jup-Nep sq to cj from Sep 18 1954-Sep 24 1958.

Hong Kong flu (H3N2 virus) 1968-1969, 700,000 dead worldwide, Jup-Nep sq to cj Sep 7 1967-Sep 16 1971.

The Spanish and Asian flu pandemic cycles ended with Jup cj Nep in fixed signs (Leo & Scorpio).

Currently, (Jan '07) we are in the waning Jup-Nep square which culminates in a conjunction in 24-27 degrees Aquarius. A fixed sign. The period commenced Jan 28 2006 with the first of three Jup sq Nep hits. The final conjunction is on Dec 21 2009.

I had concluded that the H5N1 bird flu media hype was just a scam to help governments funnel more $$$ to drug companies. Now, I am not so sure.

The way people die from flu definitely has a Jupiter-Neptune feel to it. Quoting from Wiki on the subject of H1N1: "People without symptoms could be struck suddenly and within hours be too feeble to walk; many died the next day. Symptoms included a blue tint to the face and coughing up blood caused by severe obstruction of the lungs. In later stages, the virus caused an uncontrollable hemorrhaging that filled the lungs, and patients drowned in their body fluids."

Has anyone done any work on the Neptune-Jupiter cycle and global pandemics?

Influenza is a term apparently coined by Italians who linked this disease to the influences of celestial bodies. I wonder which ones they were looking at?

In the last few weeks, a swine 'flu outbreak has swept through Mexico City and into the southern states of USA such as California, Texas and Kansas. In the last few days, an outbreak has been reported in NY. While the mortality rate remains relatively low, compared to the numbers of people infected, it does have the potential for a global pandemic. The swine 'flu is the H1N1 variant, precisely the same as that which decimated the world from 1918-1919. At the time, the world had just emerged from a brutal conflict, the likes of which had never been seen. The global mood was, to put it mildly, depressed. Currently, the global mood is similarly depressed due to the financial meltdown and descent into poverty for millions of people.

In the light of the astrological correlates, I believe we should be taking this threat very seriously, as we move into the southern hemisphere winter.

If it is in NY already, it is only a matter of time before it hits London, Johannesburg & Cape Town.

Don't panic. The swine 'flu may well be a flash-in-the-pan and easily contained within the next few weeks.

It may also interest you to know that a study comparing allopathic and homeopathic treatments during the 1918 'flu outbreak proved unequivocally that homeopathy gives one the best survival option. In a sample of 24,000 cases treated allopathically, there was a mortality of 28.2%. A sample of 26,000 cases treated homeopathically showed a mortality of 1.05%. In simple terms, if you catch H1N1 your chances of dying are 28 times higher if you go to a "normal" doctor versus a homeopath.

Churchill's bloodthirsty Lusitania LIE!!

With Pluto (0CP33) peripartile conjunct Mercury(0CP25) in 0 degrees of Capricorn in the lunation chart of 12th Dec 08, dirty little secrets are bound to emerge. The probing beneath the surface (Pluto) of knowledge (Mercury) inevitably reveals hidden information (Pluto cj Mercury) of a political nature (Capricorn).

In the last week or so, the salvage team diving on the wreck of the Lusitania off the coast of Ireland has demonstrably proven what the Germans have claimed all along ... the ship was carrying arms from New York to Liverpool, specifically FOUR MILLION rounds of .303 ammo. As such it was a legitimate military target. The Lusitania sank in 1915, within minutes of a U-Boat torpedo strike, killing 1200 victims, a hundred children included.

The anti-German spluttering on both sides of the Atlantic exploded as people loudly condemned this slaughter of innocents. As a direct result of this civilian massacre, the USA entered the war in 1917 and tens of thousands of Americans swarmed to enlist. Germany lost the war.

As it turns out, Churchill (then first Lord of the Admiralty) was aware of the Lusitania's provocative cargo and was in fact hoping for just such an incident to bring America into the war.

Now, thanks to the Pluto-Mercury contact, with Mercury way out of bounds in an extreme southern declination (-25:27), those who bear true responsibility for this outrage are coming to light for the first time in nearly a century.

Let's start with Churchill for setting up the sting. Then there are the functionaries of the US military industrial complex (Remington has been mentioned) who cynically participated in Churchill's scam by shipping arms on a civilian liner. I daresay more of these greedy bloodthirsty pigs will come to light before the salvage is over.

2012 Series - Part 1 - How it works ...

This series of posts (of which this is the first) deals with important celestial configurations shaping up in the skies over the next 8 years. These patterns have been associated in certain circles with apocalyptic scenarios relating to the end of the Mayan long count around the December solstice in 2012 ... along with all the other WW III end-of-the-world nightmare scenarios that people have been expecting since 1988.

By the way, 1988 was fingered thanks to Alsacian prophet Alois Irlmaier whose prophecies mention a date with "two 8's and a 9". Since this ambiguous piece of crap can mean anything from 1988 to any day in August 1998 to 8th August 2009, cult heroes and their zombies have been periodically holding onto their hats waiting for nukes to start flying.

21st century astrologers have an advantage over idiot gurus and their zombie acolytes because we have access to high precision astronomical ephemerides, Pentium processors, and all of recorded history delivered to the desktop via broadband. This is how it works ... Step 1: look at what is coming up in the sky; Step 2: search back in time to find the same or similar configurations; Step 3: research history for what happened on the previous occasions these same celestial patterns shaped up in the heavens; Step 4: based on this, draw appropriate and sensible conclusions about what might be coming up in the future.

The world is already experiencing some 2012 configs. The 8 year series kicked off in January 2008 with Pluto's ingress into Capricorn, followed by the Uranus-Saturn opposition which came into 1 degree orb round about the same time the markets crashed. Funny that.

This is not the forum to discuss the future of the markets and the SA economy as this information has been bought and paid for by my corporate subscribers. But it makes for very interesting reading, I can assure you.

Accident 11 Dec 08:

At least 40 people were injured on Thursday when an SA Roadlink bus crashed on the N3 freeway in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands, paramedics said. Paramedics said the bus collided with another private bus, while police said the bus in question had hit three vehicles. Police spokesperson Inspector Joey Jeevan said the SA Roadlink bus collided with three vehicles in Lions River in the midlands. "We don't know the extent of the accident or if there were any injuries or fatalities. Our police officers are on their way to the scene," she said. ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said both buses were fully laden and that the Roadlink bus was a double-decker. "Over 40 people have been injured, but at this time we don't have an exact figure. The driver of the SA Roadlink bus was trapped and he is being extricated." Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said paramedics were presently heading to the scene. "All we know right now is that there are a lot of patients with injuries... we don't know how
many." No fatalities have been reported thus far. Nonkululeko Mbatha, spokesperson for the provincial transport department, was not immediately available for comment. Health department spokesprson Chris Maxon was also not available for comment.

Conflict & Accident

11 - 13 December 2008 (next few days) are dominated by the mutable Uranus-Mars square. This is a quarrelsome, accident-prone kind of vibe. Expect religious conflicts, spectacular car accidents due to high speed and negligence, leg injuries.

Hotspots (inter alia) are Cape Town, Gauteng, Durban, Katanga (DRC), Toledo, Stockholm, Budapest, Sarajevo, Denver, New York, Adelaide (Australia), Dunedin (NZ).

People with active planets in 18,19 degrees of mutable signs will be affected. For starters, the following birthdays puts the Sun in 18-19 degrees mutable: 8-10 May, 10-12 Sept, 10-11 Dec, 8-10 March.

Tension between the signs Sagittarius (Mars) and Pisces (Uranus) usually points to conflicts over matters of philosophy and belief, mainly in the religious domain. However, strongly held political dogmas sometimes also fall into the category of "blind faith". In this context, the next few days could bring heightened political tensions in the hotspots mentioned.

If your birthday falls into one of the above mentioned periods don't assume anything will necessarily happen - a whole lot of factors need to line up before the potential collapses into reality. Enough of the explosions & fires.

Let us turn our attention to the solstice chart for December 2008. Unlike the rest of astrologers in the world, I maintain and always will that the solstice represents the midpoint of the period over which the ingress chart has jurisdiction. The Capricorn ingress therefore rules the 6 odd weeks prior to the solstice and the 6 weeks after - ie. from around 7th November to 3rd or 4th February. (Traditionally, the Capricorn ingress chart would rule the period between the December solstice and March equinox, ie. from 21 Dec to 20 March.)

The Capricorn ingress for 2008 has a very interesting feature: a Pluto-Sun conjunction ... not unexpected since slow moving Pluto entered the sign of Capricorn scant weeks ago.

The Sun in a mundane chart represents the ruling political authority, cabinet ministers, and the president in particular. When the Sun conjoins Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, in a sensitive degree (solstice point) which is 90 degrees to the vernal point fiducial (0 Aries), in the sign of Capricorn - the zodiacal segment with jurisdiction over government and political authority - THEN we are looking at some pretty powerful political forces at work. The phrase "regime change" comes to mind.

Pluto's modus operandi takes many forms. Leaders can drop dead. Or they can be deposed. Or they can resign. Or they can be voted out. Whatever the case, the old one departs and a new one takes his place.

The question is, where in the world will these regime changes take place? A more appropriate question is: where in the world will incumbent leaders and administrations experience enormous pressures from the currents of destiny that prompt them to get the hell out?

The Pluto-Sun complex in the solstice chart will make itself felt in locations where it interacts with an angle. ESPECIALLY those locations where Pluto-Sun is aspecting both axes. Astromapping makes it a simple matter to identify affected countries: Canada, Ukraine and ... not surprisingly, Zimbabwe.

Canada is a vast landmass and has three different locations which meet the criterion of interaction between the Pluto-Sun conjunction and both axes simultaneously. However, none of these locations fall anywhere near major political centres such as Ottowa. Still, it is interesting to note that the conservative Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper avoided losing a no-confidence vote by suspending parliament until 27 January. The liberal-progressive forces are howling in indignation. Can he keep his minority government intact, come the new year? Time will tell. But these moves to get rid of him and his administration are typical of an active Pluto-Sun conjunction. It is quite possible that a no-confidence motion will be tabled and passed before the expiry of the Capricorn ingress jurisdiction in first week Feb.

The other case in the news at the moment is President Yushchenko in Kiev. As of today, the Ukranians have put together a new coalition government after a deadlock of some months. The emergence of the new government is also typical of the kind of political transformations wrought by the Pluto-Sun conjunction. One wonders whether the coalition will survive the balance of the ingress jurisdiction, given that powerful "regime change" forces remain operational in the region.

The most glaring activity of the Pluto-Sun complex appears in the ingress chart erected for Harare, Zimbabwe. Click images below to enlarge chart and astromap. The Pluto-Moon contact trines the Asc, inconjuncts IC. This is a text book case of a country ripe for regime change. Indeed, you will note that the cholera crisis entered the international headspace in the 2nd week of November, precisely when the Capricorn ingress chart kicked off its jurisdiction. It is this same cholera outbreak which is fomenting unprecedented challenges to the Mugabe regime. In the Harare chart, note how the Pluto-Sun complex is hugging the 9th house cusp - inter alia significating churches and legal environments. In this context, we observe that some of Mugabe's most strident critics of late have been church leaders. There are also moves afoot to have Mugabe indicted by the ICC in the Hague.

If ever there was a time to unseat Mugabe this is it. Once the Aries 2009 ingress assumes jurisdiction around first week in Feb 2009, the regime change momentum tails off and Mugabe regains his foothold. Any intervention to turf out Mugabe, whether foreign or internal, will be harmonising with natural cycles and should enjoy a high level of success. This is a window of opportunity during which Mugabe has never been weaker or more compromised.

Explosion in San Diego, Monday 8th, caused by fighter jet crash.

A fighter jet returning to a Marine base after a training exercise crashed in flames in a San Diego neighborhood Monday, killing three people on the ground, leaving one missing and destroying two homes.

The pilot of the F/A-18D Hornet jet ejected safely just before the crash around noon at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Explosions rocked a neighborhood of half-million-dollar homes, sending flames and plumes of smoke skyward.

"The house shook; the ground shook. It was like I was frozen in my place," said Steve Krasner, who lives a few blocks from the crash. "It was bigger than any earthquake I ever felt."

Three people were killed in a house where two children, a mother and a grandmother were believed to be at the time of the crash, but fire officials did not immediately know who died. Another person remained missing, and officials said the search was suspended until Tuesday morning.

Huge fire in Mount Hua National Park, Shaanxi, China - apparently flared up 1:30pm Monday 8th, still burning 20 hours later.

A mountain forest in northwest China's Shaanxi Province has been ablaze for nearly 20 hours and at least 100 forestry workers are still working all-out Tuesday to extinguish the fire. The fire started in the weeds and bushes near the Huangfu Valley in the renowned Mount Hua at 1:30 p.m. Monday, said a clerk with the mountain's management committee. She said the committee and the local government sent a fire fighting team to the site shortly after smokes and flames were detected. "But it was impossible to put out the fire right away because the place was extremely steep," the clerk said on condition of anonymity. A second team was sent to the fire site at 5 a.m. Tuesday, she said. "Until now, I can still see thick smokes through the windows of my office." She said no casualties had been reported so far and the cause of the fire was being investigated. Mount Hua, in the Qinling Mountain Range, is about 100 kilometers east of Xi'an, the provincial capital. It is one of China's five renowned Taoist mountains and has several influential Taoist temples.

Therefore, we conclude the fire started in the period of jurisdiction held by the sunrise chart on the 7th ... ie. before sunset on the 7th. So reports of the fire starting 1:30pm on 8th may be inaccurate.

Mountain fire, Gordons Bay, Cape Town, Dec 8th.

A raging mountain fire in Gordon's Bay on Monday has resulted in dozens of people being evacuated, fire officials and police said.
"The fire jumped across a dam on the Cape Town side and has now gone down the mountain," said Reinard Geldenhuis of Cape Nature Conservation Fire management.
An inspector at the Steenbrass Forest station said it was suspected that the fire was started on a farm and spread quickly due to "strong wind conditions".
He said no fatalities had been reported but that firefighters had been battling to contain the flames.
Said Geldenhuis: "We are still fighting the fire on our side and trying to prevent it from going towards the residential area."

Fire guts Russian naval ship in Baltic port, Dec 8th.

One naval officer died in a fire on Russia's Baltic Fleet frigate the Neukrotimy (Indomitable) on Monday, a senior Navy official said. "The body of an officer was discovered during a thorough search of the ship," Captain 1st Rank Igor Dygalo, an aide to the Russian Navy commander, said. Earlier reports said no one had been hurt in the fire that broke out early on Monday on the frigate anchored at Baltiisk, the Baltic Fleet's main base. A regional emergencies official said the fire was put out at 14:00 Moscow time (11:00 a.m. GMT). He said five firefighting teams, including a special firefighting boat, had been involved in extinguishing the fire. The Baltic Fleet press service said only insignificant damage had been caused to the vessel, while the cause of the fire had yet to be established by a special investigations commission. Dygalo said the frigate, at the end of its operational life span, was due to be taken out of service, adding there had been no weapons on board the ship when the fire started.

Seven dead in methane explosion in Vietnam mine, Monday Dec 8th.

A blast Monday at a coal mine in northern Vietnam killed at least seven workers and injured 15, a company executive said. Rescue workers pulled their bodies from a 750-foot-deep 230-meter-deep) tunnel in Quang Ninh province and were still searching for another victim following the methane explosion early Monday morning, said Nguyen Van Thuan of the Khe Cham Coal company. Fifteen miners were being treated for burns, while 103 others escaped unhurt, he said. Authorities believe the miners died from severe burns. Investigators were trying to determine what started the blast, Thuan said. Quang Ninh, about 120 miles (190 kilometers) east of capital Hanoi, is Vietnam's main coal mining region.

Peshawar again - 62 NATO trucks go up in smoke on Dec 7th.

Pakistani police say suspected militants have killed a policeman and torched 62 trucks at a terminal used to supply Nato and US troops in Afghanistan. Police official Kashif Alam says about 30 assailants attacked the terminal near the northwestern city of Peshawar with rockets and guns early on Sunday. Alam says fire engulfed 62 trucks and containers likely carrying supplies to foreign forces in Afghanistan.

Bomb blast in Peshawar Pakistan Dec 5th 2008:

At least 20 persons have been killed and over 80 others injured in a high intensity explosion in Koocha Risaldar located behind Qisa Khawani Bazar in Peshawar on Friday. Police sources confirmed the above casualties which resulted after a powerful blast in a narrow and congested ally where a market is situated. The injured including women and children are being shifted to different hospitals of the city including Lady Reading Hospital where emergency has been declared. Power went off in the area after the explosion, plunging the area into darkness. Ambulances and rescue teams headed towards the blast site - a congested area which has been cordoned off by the police. Windowpanes of the nearby buildings were shattered by the blast which also damaged many shops and vehicles. The blast also triggered fire which is being extinguished by the fire fighters. IG NWFP, Malik Naveed Khan talking to Geo News said about 20 to 25 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast which was planted in a vehicle. He said the explosion has left a crater on the ground which indicates the blast was not a suicide attack.

Just in from Kamiros, Rhodes ...

Firefighters struggled in their attempts Thursday [4 Dec 08] to contain a blaze that started a day earlier in the Kamiros region of Greece, authorities said. Fire crews have been battling the fire on the island of Rhodes since Wednesday, but firefighting aircraft have been limited in their efforts by strong winds in the area. The area is under a state of emergency ordered by the civil protection general secretariat. Authorities told the news agency the fire had already consumed nearly 6 square miles of brushland and forest.

Sun 0 Mars has now moved beyond the nodal degree. The conjunction remains in 1 degree orb until Dec 10th. It is still an explosive, fiery force, and perhaps becomes more so as Mars applies to square Uranus, partiling on the 12th.

The following report has just come in at 04:44 UTC (6:44am SA).

Montserrat's Soufriere Hills Volcano has erupted, hurling hot rocks more than half a mile in the air, and setting buildings ablaze in the abandoned capital Plymouth. Roderick Stewart Director of the volcano observatory in Montserrat, said buildings burned for several hours but no one was injured or evacuated. According to Mr. Stewart, the blast was smaller than the July explosion which spewed ash some 40,000 feet into the air. "It generally happen without any warning ... the first thing I heard was the explosion which alerted me that something was going on ... I went outside and there was a lot of ash in the atmosphere. Mr. Stewart added that there were lightening strikes associated with the ash clouds and glowing rocks could be seen on the side of the volcano that had been thrown out from the lava dome. "We could also see that a lava flow had gone down into Plymouth which had been abandoned a long time ago and there were actually some building burning several miles from the volcano," he added.

As an aside, you would be surprised at how often Chiron is complicit in extreme natural phenomena. The recent floods in Santa Catarina province in Brazil had Chiron written all over them. This wounded healer does a lot more wounding than healing, I think. It was also involved in the collapse of those two schools in Haiti towards end October.

Traditionally in astrology, in return charts and lunations one is supposed to pay attention to planets in the degree of the Node as they are thought to be significant players in the forecast. I have not found this to be so. Planets that interact with angles of return charts, in tight orb (<1 degree) are far more important.

Occasionally, you get a blockbuster scenario where planets interact with angles AND tenant a degree of the Node. Such a case occurred today (3/12/08) in the sunrise chart. The rising Sun conjoins Mars both of which trine the South Node in 12 degrees of the fire triplicity. An even tighter orb of conjunction occurs in the sunrise chart tomorrow (4th).

This is an explosive combination. Already, an apartment complex has blown up in Gava, south west of Barcelona, in the early hours of the morning. And a fertilizer plant in southern Norway blew its lid later in the day. People have died and been horribly burnt in both cases. The question is where? How does one locate where these explosions are to take place? Sun cj Mars cj Asc in the degree of the Node applies across the globe in all the sunrise charts. The key to nailing down location is to look at aspects to the MC in the sunrise chart. In Gava, Pluto90MC. In Heroya (south), Jupiter90MC. Both within 1 degree orb.

With the current level of technology in astromapping, searching for such locations is like looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack.

Barack Hussein Obama - from less than zero to President in 2 years. HOW???

Mr Obama's rise to power has been prodigious. Starting as a rank outsider, he trounced establishment favourite Hillary Clinton to win the democratic nomination, and then annihiliated John McCain in the elections on November 4th.

To achieve this, as a "black" man, he had to overcome the innate racism of the American electorate. His time spent at a madrassa in Indonesia and a middle name of Hussein by all accounts should have wiped him out from get go. He also had to side-step a wave of homophobia associated with one time casual lover Larry Sinclair. (Fortunately, the main stream media never pushed this one.) Also, it seems he has got away with being elected without ever having to prove he was a natural born citizen. (The latter might just trip him up at the last minute - court cases demanding he show his original birth certificate have mushroomed all of the the USA, including one that is before the supreme court at the moment.)

For astrologers, by far his most challenging obstacle was the moment of the official launch of his presidential campaign; the moment he announced to the world that he was in the market to be president. February 10th 2007, 10:13am, Springfield, Illinois.

Astrologers everywhere, me included, scratched their heads about this. Clearly. Mr Obama was NOT using an astrologer to elect important events in the campaign, especially the announcement of his run. The Moon of this chart is most greviously voided, fallen in Scorpio, and losing light to boot. Three primary rules of classical electional astrology broken in a single moment. If the traditional approach to electing slots for success holds any water, Obama should not have been elected and will never be president of the USA.

In reading back over one of the earlier blog posts this morning ... entitled 1994 inauguration chart is radix ... I see that I inadvertantly made another prediction which has already materialised in fact.

In this post, date stamped 23rd September 2008, 3:32pm, I made the following statement:

By the time this progression plays out (March 2009), the face of "opposition politics" will have been completely transformed.

As you have no doubt noticed, October and November witnessed the birth of the new opposition party COPE.

Workshop 2004 - Zuma loses

On perusing my notes from the 2004 workshop, I see there was a prediction that Cde J Zuma loses a bruising fight in 2008/2009. At the time, I speculated this fight could be related to the succession battle. Clearly, the events of the Polokwane conference have proven otherwise. Then, again, in the light of the Nicholson judgement, it appeared that Mr Zuma was unstoppable in his quest to assume the presidency of the country. Apart from the appeal before the Supreme Court (judgement due January 2009), he seems pretty much on track to take the cake.

Still, for what it is worth, here is the pertinent paragraph taken from the 2004 workshop notes:

2008/2009 … here is the big story. Mars-p cj Pluto … there’s a fight he is not going to win. It probably has to do with the succession battle. It’s tough. It’s bruising. It’s dirty. He loses. It is unlikely his political career will survive. Already starting in 2008 Uranus and Saturn squares natal Mars. There is a lot of anger. Let’s just hope that a political battlefield does not spill over into something more serious. With his Piscean Moon, Jacob doesn’t really have the stomach for a protracted bruising conflict.

In light of recent history, I was perhaps a bit hasty in drawing the conclusion that JZ will lose. After all, I do not have a chart with a rectified birth time. I think at this juncture we should not attempt any further predictions until we have a birth time for the honorable comrade. Watch this space.

Workshop Nov 2004 - Outlook for South Africa

Notes from November 2004 Workshop. Three charts were used in this compilation: Inauguration 1994, Inauguration 1999, Thabo Mbeki's natal horoscope.

§ Major theme#1: economy … huge amounts of foreign direct investment, strong, bouyant, subject of national focus, energetic, largely due to the efforts and insights of the president as mentioned before. (A:Sun tr Jup EBP, B:Merc sx Mars, B:Sun cj Merc). Applies to rest of 2004 and 2005. The political focus on the economy shifts in 2006 as progressed Moon moves from 2nd into 3rd house … attention now turns to education, universities, transport infrastructure, etc.
§ Major theme#2: crime rate … notwithstanding assurances to the contrary, 2005 hosts and unprecedented rise in corruption and violent crime. (A:Pl opp Mars, B:Nep sq Moon). Sadly, the focus is so much on the economy and the rich getting richer, that any sympathy for ordinary people suffering from this malaise is drowned by the clanging of Kruger rands. The other factor to consider is the differential between rich and poor magnifies, which only exacerbates the crime situation.
§ Major theme#3: First quarter 2006 … tough time for the government and Mbeki in particular. There is frustration. Heavy burdens of state. Nothing seems to be working out. The cabinet is not achieving anything. A: Moon is void of course and B:enters via combusta. No crisis. Just difficulties.
§ Major theme#4: 2nd to 4th quarter 2006 sweetness and light. A very gentle, peaceful vibe. The calm before the storm. Parliament is operating well, strong approval ratings from the people. It appears that nothing much can go wrong. If SA was a person, she’d be falling in love. (Nep tr Venus, 11th house ref)

It seems to be connected to a major crisis in foreign policy/foreign relations. The whole mess intrudes quite deeply into 2008. There definitely appears to be a leadership crisis, within the cabinet, within parliament. The chart for 1999 inauguration which also serves as Mbeki’s personal odyssey as president, has the Moon going void from Oct 5 2007 through to November 2008, barely 4 months or so before his term would have ended anyway. We have to ask ourselves the question, given all the above, given the adverse indicators in Mbeki’s own natal chart, will this president complete his term in office? Or will this political crisis intervene to force his resignation or retirement in some way?
§ Whatever happens, SA has been served by a very talented man who can take personal credit for the excellent state of the economy, as much as Mboweni and Manuel might be the direct recipients of the accolades.
§ Interesting quirk: constitutional chart for Feb 3 1997, Moon-p void end 2009 and remains so through to April 2011.

Workshop Nov 2004 - Mbeki's Outlook

Notes from November 2004 workshop dealing with what the next 5 years had in store for President Mbeki. These prognostications were based on a solar chart, in the absence of a rectified birth time.

§ Emphasise the difficulty of obtaining accurate results without a birth time
§ Having said that, it is possible to get some idea of the stresses and influences, and potential events, operating in the life of the president. The timing of these is necessarily fuzzy.
§ Explain progressions
§ Venus-p activating Pluto-Mars complex: his personal style of slave driving and bending everyone to his will is in extremely sharp focus at the moment … this continues well into 2006. A lot of people are going to bite the dust. This could take the form of cabinet reshuffles, changing his advisers, changing his circle of friends, and even on an international scale he may revise his circle of preferred partners. This theme is reinforced by the Neptune sq Venus transit during 2006 … disappointments in relationships. People he thought were on side and okay turn out to be the wrong choices. And Saturn sq Venus … definitely the ending of certain important relationships over the years.
§ Merc-p sq Merc-r: circa 2008, 2009. When an intellectual like Mbeki experiences a progression like this, it portends a serious intellectual challenge to this ideas and thinking. He will become even more of a controversial figure … very similar to the situation with his HIV/AIDS position.
§ Merc-p tr Venus: At same time his thinking and intellectual life is harmoniously received by his milieu, by the people he surrounds himself with, by the people he enjoys relating to … we see a very similar situation arising to the HIV debate where his yes-men all took the same position.
§ The transits of Mercury reinforce this theme. 2007/2008 Mercury comes under fire from Uranus (sq Merc) – revolutionary conflicts in the realm of ideas and there is jarring intellectual controversy. He starts to communicate more and more erratically. And 2008/2009 sees Mercury under attack by Saturn – his intellectual excesses are curbed … such as when he was forced into a climb down on the AIDS things. And he was forced to stop sounding off on the whole thing.
§ Sun-p ingress Virgo: Around the same time. The last 30 years has seen Mbeki’s sun moving through Leo, the sign of the king, the leader, the creator, the risk-taker, the proud one, the desire to be looked up to, be adored, be seen and recognised. In 2008/2009 he transitions into Virgo, the sign of the servant, the sign of practicality, the sign of the perfectionist, where he sands off the rough edges of the last three decades and puts the finishing touches on his life’s work.
§ August 2005: He looks to be having a huge clash. A fundamental and bitter disagreement that occasions much anger.
§ Pluto opp Sun: this is the story for 2006 and 2007. A very difficult transit. The universe starts assaulting his basic identity. It is a very threatening and challenging transit. For a world leader like Mbeki, this kind of pressure could easily occasion a bit of paranoia. It portends an unprecedented challenge to his power and authority. It also holds the possibility that his power and authority may be abused or mishandled in some way. Whatever happens, Thabo Mbeki the man will never be he same again. No-one emerges from a transit like this unchanged.
§ Neptune tr Merc: 2006 … a soft, gentle Neptunian hit to Mbeki’s important Mercury. Dare we say that the intellectual Mbeki experiences moments of intuition and compassion, and he’s quite comfortable with it.
§ 2009: Uranus sq Sun: uncomfortable turbulence; change that comes out of the blue – coincides with the next election. Given this aspect and the difficulties he has as a person during the next five years, it is unlikely that he will go for a third term (which will involve a constitutional amendment); it is unlikely that he would even want to. These are mostly not happy times for President Mbeki.

1994 Inauguration Chart is Radix

Mandela took the oath of office at 12:20pm, May 10th 1994, Pretoria (Tshwane).

The tumultuous events in SA politics of the last 12 months - Polokwane conference, recharging of Zuma, Nicholson judgement, culminating in the resignation of Mbeki & some of his cabinet - have occurred under the pAsc sq nPluto progression in this inauguration chart, which has been in orb since September 2007.

The primary aphorism in Ronald Davison's Technique of Prediction states "No important event in the life ever comes to pass unless a direction involving an angle of the horoscope is in force at the time." We can assume therefore that this inauguration chart is radix as it tells the story of the remaking of the SA political scene.

[Note also the solar arc Saturn in octile to radix Asc-Dsc axis, further confirmation of the chart's radicality.]

Pluto in the inauguration chart tenants the 4th house and is the modern ruler of the 4th. It is therefore a very powerful significator of the "political opposition" to the ruling authority (10th house). This has two implications for the short term future of the political landscape.

1. The putsch that unseated Mbeki originated in structures which equivalenced a "political opposition". In other words, even though the ANC post-Polokwane were ostensibly still the governing party, for all intents and purposes they operated as a political opposition to the Mbeki cabinet.

2. By the time this progression plays out (March 2009), the face of "opposition politics" will have been completely transformed.

In November 2004, I delivered an astrological workshop to about 70 people on the subject of South Africa's political future. One of the prognostications derived from the Mbeki 1999 inauguration chart was as follows:
